'Raajneeti' isn't a political film

Prakash Jha, the director of 'Raajneeti' might be deluding himself that he has made a political film. The viewers are not fooled. There is nothing political in this film. What is the saving grace for an unrealistic script is the terrific acting performances truned in by Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Arjun Rampal. It is a melodramatic story and Jha tells it at a frenetic pace. Though it is nearly three hours in length, you do not feel too restless. But at the end of it you do realise that there is nothing of substance in the story that the film tells. It is an interesting family drama, with tell-tale signs from the good old Mahabharata and snatches of the 'killings' from the Godfather movies.
This should not come as a surprise. Hindi filmmakers from Mumbai are incapable of making a political film because they are cut off from the harsh Indian reality. That is why, there are more credible Tamil and Telugu mainstream films that tell a political tale with greater panache than an intelligent filmmaker like Jha can ever hope to do.
Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Arjun Rampal have acted extremely well, which is perhaps as much a tribute to director Jha as to the stars themselves.

Dust is everywhere around us. It is impossible to remove it completely as it can get in your home from every tiny hole. This, of course, do not mean that we should stop fighting the dust and grime. We can at least control the amount of dust that comes inside our homes.
